A few deliberate strokes hold the face, the fur is suggested by soft washes that bloom into the paper, and the lightest areas are simply left untouched. It is monochrome and still, with plenty of empty space around them. Many people choose it as a remembrance portrait; it is just as at home as a simple, understated study of a pet who is very much here.
